Interstate Colors uses location data to determine whether a player passed a game flag or interstate exit, calculate verified mileage, and update team territory.
Data collected
Account information includes username, email address, password hash, selected team, mileage, ranks, awards, captures, and basic login-security records. During an active journey, the service receives latitude, longitude, accuracy, speed when supplied by the device, and capture time.
Location retention
The application is designed to retain only the latest 20 GPS points per player. Older points are deleted as new points arrive. Aggregate gameplay records—such as mileage, exit captures, team votes, and territory ownership—remain until the administrator deletes them.
External services
OpenStreetMap tiles may be loaded in the browser. The server may query OpenStreetMap-compatible Overpass and Nominatim services to discover interstate exits and identify the current state. If advertising is enabled, the configured advertising provider may process device, cookie, and advertising data under its own terms. The OpenAI API is used only during administrator-requested content generation; player GPS data is not included in those prompts.
Simulation
The game may include disclosed simulated world traffic to keep territory moving while the player community is small. Simulated activity is not represented as a real-player count.
Choices
Location tracking starts only after the player starts or resumes a journey and grants browser permission. A player can stop a journey at any time. Account deletion is currently handled by the site administrator.
